Apple Developer Individual Accounts for Sale: What to Verify on Holder, Apple ID Control and Renewal

Before ordering an Apple Developer individual account, check who the legal holder is, who controls the Apple ID and two-factor, who pays renewal, and the state of any existing apps. This article lists the criteria and the stop signals.

Apple Developer Individual Accounts for Sale: What to Verify on Holder, Apple ID Control and Renewal

An individual account is tied to one real person

On the App Store, an individual account shows the holder's legal name as the seller, and the membership, agreements and payout details all sit under that person. So buying one is not like buying a generic software login. You are not getting a container you can rename at will, but a membership relationship attached to someone. Before price, ask who the holder is and what your role in the account will be after delivery.

Know what can and cannot be moved

Apple membership generally cannot be handed over the way a domain can, and the holder role on an individual account is especially restrictive. Rules change, so rely on Apple's current documentation. What can move through an official process is the app: if it meets the platform's conditions, an app can be transferred from one developer account to another. In practice, deals take one of two shapes: buying an account with history while the original holder stays involved for sign-in and verification, or holding your own account and transferring apps into it. Risk and responsibility differ sharply, so the seller must say which one applies.

Apple ID and two-factor decide who actually controls it

Control comes down to a few fields: who owns the Apple ID email, who owns the phone number, which trusted devices receive verification codes, and whether recovery contacts or keys have been updated. If you hold only the password while codes still go to the seller's phone, every sign-in depends on that person being available. Ask how each field will be changed at handover and confirm you can sign in, renew and recover the account on your own. If you cannot, control has not been delivered.

Renewal, region and tax details must line up

Membership renews annually. If it lapses, apps are removed from sale and new versions cannot be submitted. Ask for the next expiry date, who supplies the payment method, and whether auto-renew is on. Region matters too: it affects payment methods, agreements and tax forms, and a US individual account differs from one in another country. If your app charges money or sells in-app purchases, confirm you can set up banking and tax information with your own lawful details rather than relying on someone else's. Fees and requirements follow Apple's current pages.

Aged or app-bearing accounts carry history

An aged account is valuable for its registration date, app record and standing, but those also bring baggage. Ask about current account status, any review violations or removal notices, whether existing bundle IDs or app names collide with your plans, and whether the apps are in a state that allows transfer. If an app is still selling, get written clarity on revenue, users and privacy policy responsibility before taking it over.

Stop when these signals appear

Pause if the seller cannot explain the holder's identity, wants you to keep using their phone for verification, still needs to supply codes after delivery, answers vaguely about history, renewal or region, asks you to submit materials that do not match who you are, or hints at ways around platform verification. If the account is later restricted or reclaimed, you will have nothing to rely on. Write each check into the delivery terms. Anything left unanswered should be fixed or the plan changed, for example registering with your own identity or choosing an organization account with a clear transfer path.
